Homestead Credit Education Seminar To Take Place in Milwaukee

January 18, 2012 – (RealEstateRama) — The Wisconsin Department of Revenue (DOR) is teaming up with the Social Development Commission Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program to host an education seminar on the Homestead Credit program on January 24.

The Homestead Credit program is designed to help low-income, elderly renters and property owners in the State of Wisconsin.

In order to qualify for the Homestead Credit program, you must meet certain criteria. Please visit our website at revenue.wi.gov/individuals/homestead.html for the complete list. Below are general criteria that must be met:

• Have a household income less than $24,680
• Have either rented or paid property taxes in 2012
• Cannot be claimed as a dependent on another person’s income tax return
• Have been a legal resident of Wisconsin from January 1, 2012 to December 31, 2012

This is a great opportunity to learn more about the Homestead Credit program and meet representatives from
Wisconsin DOR and trained volunteers and staff.

When: January 24, 2013
3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. session for property owners and landlords
6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. session for renters, taxpayers and general public
