Madison – April 10, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Representative John Murtha (R-Baldwin) released the following statement after the approval of renovations and repairs to North Hall, Price Commons, and Bowman Hall at UW – Stout by the State Building Commission:

“I am grateful that the letter of support I sent to Rep. Rob Swearingen (R-Rhinelander) of the Building Commission had a positive impact on the Commission’s unanimous decision to approve the projects,” said Representative John Murtha. “Their vote shows a true commitment to the historic preservation and continued integrity of UW – Stout.”

“Both North Hall and Price Commons were built in 1967, and Bowman Hall dates back to 1897. These buildings are very historic. In fact, an old picture of Bowman Hall from the Wisconsin Historical Society is framed and hanging on the wall of my office in Madison. I’m glad money is being used to renovate these buildings to preserve the campus’ history,” stated Murtha. “The projects include updating the fire sprinkler systems as well as replacing HVAC and electrical wiring that are original to the buildings. The students at UW – Stout deserve safe buildings, and I’m pleased the state is making the necessary updates.”
