Building a Buzz: ORS® Create Awareness for New Home Tax Credit

-

MADISON, WI – December 29, 2009 – (RealEstateRama) — Due to a recent decision by Congress, Wisconsin homebuyers will once again stand to benefit from an extended and expanded federal home tax credit program. Consequently, the Wisconsin REALTORS® Association (WRA) is leading the charge in educating the public and raising awareness for this historic consumer opportunity.

Prospective homebuyers can expect to hear about the details of the new program through traditional media such as radio, as well as in many popular social media spaces including Twitter, Facebook and a new blog.

“We are using a full complement of promotional resources to reach out to anyone who is even thinking about buying a home in the state of Wisconsin,” says William Malkasian, WRA President. “Our role is to help communicate all the ins-and-outs of this program, and to also help homebuyers make smart decisions.”

According to Malkasian, extension and expansion are the key words when it comes to this revamped tax credit program. For example, the $8,000 tax credit for first-time homebuyers will remain in effect until April 30, 2010.

Current homeowners, who have owned and occupied a home consecutively for five of the last eight years, are eligible to receive a $6,500 credit when they purchase a home between November 7, 2009 and April 30, 2010.

“People will have questions,” adds Malkasian. “But your Wisconsin REALTOR® will have the answers.”
