MADISON, WI – July 6, 2012 – (RealEstateRama) — The Village of Menomonee Falls will receive up to a $500,000 Blight Elimination and Brownfield Redevelopment award from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) for redevelopment of the 17 acre former Western Industries site.

The award will reimburse the village to convert an underutilized blighted and contaminated property into an environmentally remediated site featuring a new constructed 90,000 square foot mixed use facility. The village will perform site clearance and utilize innovative soil and groundwater treatments to prepare the site for construction.

The Blight Elimination and Brownfield Redevelopment Program (BEBR) provides funding to assist local governments, businesses and individuals with assessing and remediating the environmental contamination of an abandoned, idle or underused industrial or commercial facility or site.
